We had another growth scan appointment this week and everything is looking good. Baby weighed in at a whopping one pound and should be about 8" long head to rump. Baby was head down again. Already pulling a pretty complicated neutrally buoyant trick, way to go future diver!
"But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve . . . But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD." Joshua 24:15

so touched, and so lucky
We have already received a couple of handmade gifts from friends and we are so touched by their generosity, thoughtfulness, and pure awesomeness of their craftmanship. Really, we love what you've made and truly appreciate your friendship.
I'm not too savvy on using my tablet to take pics and upload to the blog so I hope the pics show up well. They don't do the items justice though. They are so cool in person!

voting is now up
The blog is being redesigned a bit and now there's a poll in the top right corner: What do you think the baby's gender will be?
Go cast your vote! (But no rush, you've got 144 more days to vote until the baby is due.)

8 december 2011 sonogram
We had a sonogram yesterday although it wasn't for the normal growth scans. The next appt for that will be in 3 weeks instead of 2 since we're traveling for Christmas. But we did get a few little pics of the profile which the sonographer wasn't able to capture last time. The first picture shows the nose, lips, and chin pretty well from the side. The second picture is also of the face but kind of from below. Baby was head down at the appointment.
Baby is about 6.3" long head to rump at this point.
Before you scroll down and look at the last picture, let me explain. Or rather, let me just tell you that no, I am not pregnant with an alien. This is how the baby's face shows up at this point because a lot of the soft tissue hasn't filled out yet. Remember, its not even half way through growing. The harder and more dense skeletal material (i.e., cartilage and then bone) shows up more white on the sono and then the soft tissue shows up more gray. In the future, it won't look so alien-like. At least I hope so :) This was taken from directly south looking up since the baby's head was down.
We're looking forward to the next appt in 3 weeks to see how the baby has grown since the last scans were done.

you know your baby's gonna be smart when....
it listens to beethoven and sips hot tea with its pinky up. reminds me of a great spongebob scene where he and patrick are invited over to sandy's for some tea.
Here's a bit of the script:
Patrick: That’s just fancy talk. If you want to be fancy, hold your pinky up like this. (shows the proper way to hold up your pinky) The higher you hold it, the fancier you are.
Spongebob: (holds pinky up) How’s that?
Patrick: Higher!
Spongebob: (holds pinky higher) Like that?
Patrick: Now that’s fancy! They should call you Spongebob Fancypants!
get that pinky higher, little one!

23 november 2011 sonogram
All growth measurements were great!
Baby is approximately 5" long head to rump, although they won't be taking head to rump measurements anymore - only individual measurements of the head, abdomen, and femur among other things. At this appointment we could see the brain, humerus, stomach, kidneys, and lots of other good things. We didn't see anything in between the toes and the stomach though, since we don't want to know the gender.

5 cute toes

Baby looks like a mini human with arms and legs - app. 2.5" long head to rump
Baby did a little flip. Here you can see the spine, ribs, and legs really well.
30 september 2011 sonogram
I'm going to post all our sono pictures so they are all in one place and we have a little digital journal that we can print.
