The pool party in Vero was great! Lots of friends came to help Nico celebrate! I think she's starting to get the hang of this birthday thing.

Happy First Birthday!
Happy first birthday, Nico! You are so loved!
We had a waffle breakfast this morning and she opened her presents from Mama and Daddy. (The cake in the picture was for a smash session last night.)
This afternoon we'll go swimming together and maybe kayaking too!
We'll take it easy at home tonight and then celebrate with friends for dinner tomorrow.

First 1st Birthday Party
Nico's first 1st birthday party was a smashing success! We had a whopping 34 guests plus the 3 of us. It was busy but lots of fun! I think that she definitely had a good time and knew that it was all about her!
The pretty birthday girl in her outfit that matched the party colors. We went with pink, green, and yellow with owls sprinkled in.
Table with snacks, fruit, and veggies. Her 0-11 month timeline is hanging from the window and this table also has her pretty birthday flowers from Daddy. He'll give her flowers every year in the same vase he brought me flowers in at the hospital when she was born! Aww, isn't that sweet?!
Table with drinks, cupcakes, and other sweets. The real food included salad, garlic bread, vegetable lasagna, and eggplant parmesan. I thought I underestimated the food based on the amount of people that were coming but I was wrong! We have a TON of leftovers. We'll be eating lasagna for a week.

This is about as messy as she got with the cake. We'll see what happens in two weeks at the next cake session!

And a healthy dinner of roasted zucchini, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, carrots, broccoli, tofu, and cantaloupe to balance out the day. Further proof that she is braver with food than her Grammy. Just kidding, Mom!
We're looking forward to being able to celebrate with family and more friends in Vero Beach in two weeks. We'll have a simple pool party there and hopefully it won't be too hot that day. Be prepared for lots of fun!

Party prep/countdown
Here are a few collage pictures of our party prep around the house.
Nico's 1st birthday party is tomorrow! We're so excited to celebrate this milestone with old and new friends down in the Keys.
Wednesday the 17th is her official birthday and we'll spend the day with Daddy doing a few special things!
In 2 weeks we will have another party to celebrate in Vero with our moms, some family, and more friends. This girl is so loved.
